Concerned about Alcohol and Drug Abuse? Take the Quiz
Do you have an alcohol or substance abuse problem? Many people become ill or injured as a result of the underlying disease of alcohol or drug abuse. There are very serious consequences that occur as a result of excessive drug and/or alcohol usage.
Take the following quizzes to see if there are issues you need to address.
Alcohol Abuse
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, a social drinker should have 3 or fewer "yes" answers. If you have four or more "yes" answers, you may be one of the other nine million Americans with a drinking problem.
- Do you think and talk about drinking often?
- Do you drink more now than you used to?
- Do you sometimes gulp drinks?
- Do you often take a drink to help you relax?
- Do you drink when you are alone?
- Do you sometimes forget what happened when you were drinking?
- Do you keep a bottle hidden somewhere at home or at work ... for quick pick-me-ups?
- Do you need a drink to have fun?
- Do you ever just start drinking without really thinking about it?
- Do you drink in the morning to relieve a hangover?
Substance Abuse
If you answer yes to any of these questions, it could indicate that you have a problem with substance abuse.
- Do you feel uncomfortable in social situations without the use of some substance?
- Do you have to use more than you did at first to get the same feeling?
- Do you use when you are angry, sad, hurt, disappointed, feel pressured or stressed?
- Do you ever use at work, school, or while driving?
- Do you ever feel depressed, sad, or let down after a substance wears off?
- Do you become panicky or anxious if unable to obtain drugs or supply?
- Have your ever gotten in legal trouble due to use of substance?
- Have you ever mismanaged money as a result of spending it for drugs?
- Do you ever miss work, school, or appointments as a result of drug use?
- Do family/friends tell you, you have a problem?
Substance abuse leads to physical, psychological, emotional, financial, vocational, spiritual, and family impairments. It is necessary, when someone is dependent on drugs or alcohol, to seek help from experienced people.
